INTERVIEW WITH Lu
In the journey of building your personal style, what kind of "relentless obsession" did you have?
I used to spend hours crouching on location with my team, just waiting for that one ideal ray of natural light. Light dictates how everything is seen. Beneath the lens, textures shift and change with every movement of light. When you catch the exact second that light strikes, the visual achieves its truest, most elevated quality. That relentless obsession with detail slowly built my visual eye.
Choosing to become an independent fashion creator comes with a lot of uncertainties. Has this changed how you view objects and personal style?
Refusing to conform takes courage. When I encounter something new today, I prefer not to think about who made it or why it is trending. Taking this longer path slowly taught me to set my own standards — a mindset that carries over into what I choose to own. Like the Stance Bag I use every day, behind its clean lines is an uncompromising attention to detail.
When moving constantly between different settings, how do you maintain a clear identity and effortless presence through your wardrobe?
My life is always shifting between quiet moments and movement. That is why I lean toward a minimalist approach in how I dress: pairing soft, easy garments with a bag defined by clean lines and structured architecture.
I love that dynamic balance between the soft and the structured. A clean, defined silhouette is all it takes to carry an entire outfit and project effortless presence.
On your creative journey, how do you resist getting swept away by trends while maintaining your own pace and rhythm?
As my own standards became clearer, I no longer needed loud symbols to prove my taste. Instead, I started paying attention to craftsmanship, the fit and how things feel.
Like the way the Cadence Bag sways in rhythm with each step, it is not trying to please, but moving in harmony with the rhythm of your stride. Moments of pure inspiration, for beauty and creativity, often reveal themselves in these relaxed, unhurried spaces.
How do you view Cafuné’s brand aesthetic, and how do you define the Cafuné Woman?
Restrained, neat and strength - that was my first impression of Cafuné.
Focused, self-reliant and composed - this is my definition of a Cafuné Woman. She is not defined by trends or style; rather, she defines style on her own terms. Whatever roles we carry, staying true to oneself is the only choice that lasts.
